In January 2022, the Città Azzurra Cooperative in partnership with INFES opened Villa Eèa in agreement with the Südtiroler Sanitätsbetrieb. It is the first day care center and a protected community for patients suffering from eating disorders (DCA) located in via Carducci 19, in the center of Bolzano.
The structure was born from the need to equip the territory of the city of Bolzano with a Day Centre and a Protected Community (level II intervention) dedicated to people suffering from eating disorders, in order to complete the picture of the current therapeutic offer, represented at the moment by level I (outpatient) and level III (hospitalization and/or dedicated residential structure) interventions.
The characteristics of Eating Disorders make them susceptible to multiple and diversified treatments, the greatest difficulty of which is represented above all by the need to establish synergies and mutual integrations between the different levels of care.
In order to prepare for each individual patient the most appropriate treatment path, it is appropriate to provide paths that involve the transition from one level of assistance to another, which are as much as possible shared. This is to minimize the risk of slowing down or of interruption of the treatment that tends to occur precisely in the transition between different care settings.

The day centre is designed to accommodate 12 patients aged 12 and over with a BMI from the 3rd percentile up, while the protected community can accommodate up to 8 patients aged 14 and over with a BMI equal to or above the 3rd percentile.
Insertions as well as individualized therapeutic procedures are totally borne by the healthcare system.
The name of the structure is inspired by the mythological narrative of the Odyssey of Homer in which Eèa, the island home of the sorceress Circe representing the ideal that does not exist, the chimeric and utopian journey to happiness, perfection.

Their therapeutic path at our facility is aimed at bringing them back into the search for concrete and achievable goals, in the new attribution of meanings and in the individual growth towards uniqueness and non-compliance with status symbols.
The center of approx. 550 sqm. is spread over three floors and the community offers 8 beds; it consists of 4 fully furnished apartments with 2 beds each, living room, kitchen and bathroom. The house has a dining room, a large multifunctional room dedicated to common activities, a kitchen and various studios and clinics for individual psychotherapy. There is also a space used as a pantry, two laundry rooms and a large garden-park where among other things vegetables are produced. One part is dedicated to the management offices of Città Azzurra.
At the day center, the patients perform various activities, from assistance to the preparation of meals, school and extracurricular activities, creative activities, relaxation groups, walks, art, music, theater, garden and yoga.
At Villa Eèa there is a multidisciplinary team composed of both health personnel directly sent by the Südtiroler Sanitätsbetrieb and staff hired directly by the cooperative Città Azzurra. A complete staff, composed of psychiatrists and neuropsychiatrists, dieticians, psychotherapists, nurses, psychiatric rehabilitation technicians, dieticians and social workers to meet the needs of users. The team aims above all to respond to the therapeutic and care individual needs.
The nurses, the technicians of psychiatric rehabilitation and dieticians in force in Città Azzurra are all very young; it was a deliberate choice, given the young age of the target audience. The atmosphere is really very pleasant and jovial, in full swing for the development of a model that is very individualized and open.
The service is entirely borne by the National Health System.
